Details
An output coupler (OC) is a partially reflective dielectric mirror that serves as a critical component in a laser cavity. Its function is to transmit a controlled portion of the intracavity optical power to produce the final laser beam.
The output couplers offered here are designed for stable resonators, featuring a spatially constant Reflection/Transmission (R/T) value across the mirror. A laser's pump power threshold, maximum output power, and efficiency are highly dependent on this R/T ratio, making the selection of the right OC a crucial step in laser design. To minimize power loss, the rear surface is treated with an anti-reflection (AR) coating.
Specialized options are also available to enhance beam quality:
- Concave mirrors help maintain the fundamental TEM₀₀ spatial mode within the resonator.
- Wedged mirrors deflect Fresnel reflections, preventing their amplification inside the cavity and the formation of secondary (parasitic) pulses.
For your convenience, Laserand stocks a variety of commonly used output couplers suitable for high-intensity intracavity applications.
