The polarizer has two escape windows to allow the rejected beams to escape. It is made from calcite of higher grade than standard prism. Its entrance and exit faces are polished using deep grinding and polishing technique to minimize scatter from surface.


For application with power less than 100 MW/cm2 this prism can be made from cheaper grade of calcite.
